Ingen forskel i PS4 Pro-version af Dishonored 2

Digital Foundry har testet Dishonored 2 på den almindelige PS4 og den kraftigere PlayStation 4 Pro, men resultatet er mildest talt skuffende:

“If you’ve got a full-HD screen and a [PS4] Pro, you’re not getting any benefits in Dishonored 2.” The only way to enable supersampling on PS4 Pro is by connecting a 4K TV, and then manually setting it to 1080p mode, which defeats the purpose of your fancy high-resolution display. “We’re not going to do this unless it gives us higher frame rates or a massive boost in visual quality, and Dishonored 2 gives us neither.”

Tidligere Lionhead-udvikler roser 4K-opskalering

Don Williamson der er tidligere udvikler hos Lionhead roser PlayStation 4 Pro’s måde at opskalere til 4K:

On the plus side? You get stunning performance improvements with visual idiosyncrasies that you might be happy with. That Sony have chosen to accelerate part of this for developers can only be a good thing for the short term as we figure how to target higher resolutions more efficiently.

Ingen PS4 Pro-support til Until Dawn

Supermassive Games har meldt ud at deres gyserspil Until Dawn ikke får nogen opdatering til at understøtte PlayStation 4 Pro.

Watch Dogs 2 understøtter alligevel PS4 Pro ved udgivelsen

Der har været lidt blandede udmeldinger omkring PlayStation 4 Pro undestøttelse ved udgivelsen af Watch Dogs 2, men nu har spillets instruktør, Jonathan Morin, bekræftet at PS4 Pro er understøttet fra Day One:

PS4 Pro-version af Resident Evil 7 virker lovende

Resident Evil fan’en Alex Aniel har været til ambassadør møde hos Capcom hvor de fremviste Resident Evil 7: Biohazard på Playstation 4 Pro:

Now they’re showing #RE7 running in PS4 Pro 4K. Detail is AMAZING! No photos allowed though. The detail of the visuals is stunning. Objects look more detailed. To me, it looks “cleaner” too. Definitely an upgrade.

Samtidig oplyses det at spillet er 90% færdigt.

PlayStation 4 Pro bruger to GPU-chips når den spiller Pro-spil

I et interview med Eurogamer har PS4 Pro systemarkitekten Mark Cerny forklaret hvordan konsollen håndterer den forbedrede grafik.

We doubled the GPU size by essentially placing it next to a mirrored version of itself, sort of like the wings of a butterfly.

That gives us an extremely clean way to support the existing 700 titles. We just turn off half the GPU and run it at something quite close to the original GPU.

Outlast 2 understøtter PS4 Pro

Phillipe Morin fra udvikleren Red Barrels har i et interview med PlayStation LifeStyle sagt at Outlast 2 får en PlayStation 4 Pro opdatering:

“Yes it will. It will have higher shadow quality, higher quality texture filtering and more detailed meshes. That’s what we have so far, but we’re still working on some improvements.”

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided har fået PS4 Pro-opdatering

Ifølge et indlæg på Square Enix’ forum fortæller udvikleren om opdatering 1.05, og blandt de forskellige opdateringer og tekniske forbedringer står der desuden:

“Mankind Divided will support 4K resolution and graphic improvements on PS4 Pro.”
